Robar Royce is a knight of House Royce, the second son of Lord Yohn Royce, a powerful bannerman of the Vale of Arryn. He is introduced during the Hand's tourney in King's Landing, where he competes in the jousting lists. He is described as wearing silvered steel plate filigreed in bronze with the same ancient runes that ward his father's armor, a mark of his family's deep and storied traditions. In his first tilt, he defeats the freerider Lothor Brune, but is later unhorsed by Ser Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers, in a match that leaves him dazed and unmoving, carried from the field on a litter.

Role as Messenger and Ally

Following the tourney, Robar Royce is present in the throne room when Eddard Stark, as Hand of the King, dispatches Lord Beric Dondarrion to bring the king's justice to Ser Gregor Clegane.
